Important update from CPA Canada for U.S. members

Published: Tuesday, December 17, 2019

The pace and volume of change faced by the accounting profession globally has been unprecedented in recent years. This requires the profession to adapt and take steps that best position it for success.

With over 4,500 Canadian CPAs living and working throughout the U.S., Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) continues to look for new and innovative ways to provide the tools, resources and professional development required by our members to support their careers.

For many years, CPA Canada partnered with The Association of Chartered Accountants in the United States (ACAUS) to offer our members access to networking opportunities and ACAUS member benefits (ACAUS is a non-profit professional and educational organization dedicated to representing the interests of professional accountants who reside in the U.S.). However, with member preferences for professional development moving towards online and on-demand options, we are transitioning to a new support model that continues to deliver a consistent high-quality experience for all CPA members living at home and abroad. Therefore, as of December 31, 2019, CPA Canada will be withdrawing its membership from ACAUS.

ACAUS will be offering complimentary membership to U.S.-based Canadian CPAs throughout 2020. If you have not yet signed up, you will need to register to join ACAUS to start receiving their communications and gain access to their resources. Membership includes access to their private LinkedIn page, invitations to ACAUS networking and educational events, and webinars.

As a reminder, CPA Canada continues to offer you a wide selection of online learning (webinars, virtual classrooms, podcasts) and free resources to meet your CPD requirements. In addition, we have launched a dedicated landing page for U.S.-based members on the CPA Canada website that will keep you updated with relevant information.

In the coming months, CPA Canada will be working with ACAUS to ensure a smooth transition. We always welcome your input. Please contact [email protected] if you have any comments or questions.
