CPA PEP: BECOMING A CANADIAN CPA CPA PEP is a graduate-level program comprised of a series of modules that focus primarily on enhancing your ability to apply professional knowledge, values, ethics and attitudes in a professional context. CPA PEP consists of six modules that continuously build knowledge and skill: two common core modules that all Canadian CPA candidates must take, focusing on the development of competencies in management and financial accounting in six core technical competency areas: financial reporting strategy and governance management accounting audit and assurance finance taxation two elective modules that allow you to deepen your skills in your areas of career interest. Four electives will be offered; you are required to choose two: assurance performance management Canadian tax finance one capstone integrative module*, focusing on: developing enabling competencies such as leadership and professional skills integrating Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada)’s core competencies one capstone exam preparation module*, that prepares you for the Common Final Examination (CFE) that all candidates must successfully complete to become a Canadian CPA *Capstone courses are culminating courses. In them, you demonstrate what you have learned over the course of the program. NOTES While the program’s structure is modular, it should be viewed as a continuous build of knowledge and skill over a two-year time frame. Moving from module to module will allow for a change in context or emphasis, as well as for checkpoints at which progress can be evaluated. Candidates must pass each module-end examination to proceed to the next module. The modules also include some knowledge acquisition beyond the academic prerequisite level. This program will take two years to complete on a part-time basis as candidates work at relevant employment; however, candidates have up to a maximum of six years from date of registration to complete the CPA PEP.
