Trinidad and Tobago chapter: Meet the board

The membership of CPA Canada's Trinidad and Tobago chapter board reflects a cross-section of perspectives based on legacy designation, area of practice and experience since becoming qualified as a professional accountant.


Anil Seeterram, B.Comm., MBA (Hons.), CPA, CA, DIFA, Acc. Dir

Anil is the Managing Partner of the Phi Group Limited, a management consulting company based in Trinidad. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and an MBA with Honours from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Anil qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 1997 and also holds a post-graduate qualification in Forensic and Investigative Accounting (DIFA), jointly obtained from the University of Toronto and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is an Accredited Director with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, based in Ottawa, Canada, has served on the board of various public and private sector companies and is presently a member of the Caribbean Corporate Governance Institute, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago. He is also the Vice President of the Canadian Alumni Association of Trinidad & Tobago.

Marcia Maynard, BSc., MSc., CPA, CMA, PMP, MAIChE

Marcia is the Team Leader, Business Development at the National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago. She has worked both in the petrochemical and financial services industry for the past 18 years. Marcia obtained a BSc. degree in Chemical and Process Engineering and a MSc. degree in Engineering Management from the University of the West Indies. She obtained the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation in 2012, and is a Project Management Professional (PMP), as well as being a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI). Marcia is an active Senior Member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

Dr. Emily G. Dick Forde, PhD, FCPA, FCMA

Emily is the Manager of Special Initiatives in the Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor and Principal of The University of the West Indies Open Campus. Emily is an Accounting and Governance academic with 17 years of experience lecturing in several areas including Accounting and Finance, Corporate Social Responsibility and Climate Change & Risk Management. Emily has been a Government Minister and Senator within the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago where she was appointed Minister of Planning, Housing and the Environment (2007 to 2010). Other previous work experience includes working at the middle management level at the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago. Emily holds a Ph.D. in Accounting, from the University of Dundee, a M. Phil in Finance from the University of Cambridge England, a B.Sc. in Accounting (First Class Honours) from the University of West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados. She earned full scholarships for her studies at the Masters and Doctoral levels. Emily received her Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation in 2000 and earned her Fellowship in 2014. She is also a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust. Emily has published several articles, a book chapter, and delivered public lectures and seminars.

Natalie Mansoor, CPA, CMA, CFA

Natalie has been the head of RBC Investment Management (Caribbean) Limited since 2009. She joined the Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (RBTT) Financial Group in 2004 as Senior Portfolio Manager at RBTT Trust Limited before moving to the position of Senior Manager, Asset Management in 2006, and has since moved to her current position. Natalie holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and has over 17 years of experience in the Financial Services Sector. In addition to earning the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation in 1999, Natalie also holds a Bachelor of Mathematics, Business Administration from the University of Waterloo.

Board Members

Ruthven Jack, CPA, CMA, CA, CFE

With over 30 years of experience in consulting, business advisory, management, finance, accounting and information technology, Ruthven is currently the principal of Ruthven Jack and Associates. Ruthven once was a consultant and lecturer with the U.W.I. Institute of Business, and served as the Chief Executive Officer for the First Citizens Bank Mortgage and Trust Company Limited. Further accomplishments for Ruthven include being a lecturer in various courses, such as the Certificate in Management Program at Roytec. In addition to being a Canadian CPA, Ruthven is a Chartered Accountant (CA) through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He completed the inaugural certificate program in IFRS implementation at the CMA Professional Development Institute of Ontario, in addition to fraud certification training with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) in Texas. In the past Ruthven played active roles in many committees and councils, including roles as chair and president.

Ryan J. Nunes BMath, CPA, CMA, CA

Ryan has been the Managing Director of Nunes Financial Limited (formerly Homer and Co Chartered Accountants) since 2012. Prior to his present role, Ryan was the Audit Manager of Homer and Co., since 2005. He is a seasoned financial professional, with experience in auditing compliance, accounting, financial systems, programs, and taxation. Ryan earned a Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours), with a major in Business Administration – Information Systems, from the University of Waterloo, Ontario. He entered the Canadian accounting profession in 2012 after earning the legacy CMA designation and is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT). Ryan has served on multiple councils and committees, and is presently involved with various civic and community activities, in addition to having a passion for football.

Gary Awai, MBA, CPA CMA

Gary is the Senior General Manager at Development Finance Limited with responsibility for Corporate/Commercial Banking and Treasury Operations. His banking career spans over 33 years, in which he has held several senior management positions at various local bank and non-bank financial institutions including, Deputy CEO at Intercommercial Bank Limited (now JMMB Bank), Assistant General Manager, Treasury at RBTT Bank Limited and Treasury Manager at Citibank. (Trinidad and Tobago) Limited. In addition to being a CPA and member of the Society of Management Accountants of Nova Scotia, Canada, he holds a Masters in Business Administration from Andrews University, Michigan and a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, Canada. He has an extensive background in Treasury Risk Management, Strategic Management Accounting, Correspondent Banking, Structured Trade Finance, Compliance, Corporate Finance and Marketing and Sales. Other governance roles include Director of the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturer’s Association, Member of the Academic Council of the University of the West Indies, ROYTEC Campus, Founder member of the Caribbean Financial Planning Association and Founder of a local charity, Trinity Domus.

Don Gonzales B.Sc., M.Sc., CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, CPEA, CRMA

Don is an experienced Chief Audit Executive with over twenty-five years of successful leadership in governance and assurance functions in the private and public sectors. Don led the Internal Audit functions in PLIPDECO, NIPDEC and Atlantic LNG where the Internal Audit department was recognized to be in world leadership position in two of eight categories (Risk Focus and Cost Optimisation) in a benchmarking exercise performed by PwC. At present, he is serving as the Chief Internal Auditor at COSTAATT. Don is also currently a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Internal Auditors – Trinidad & Tobago Chapter and also a Board member of the NGO – Turtle Village Trust.
